Bio:

Matt graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in physics and mathematics from the University of Colorado, Boulder. He then earned his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan, graduating from Steven Cundiff’s nonlinear spectroscopy group. Following his time at Michigan, he completed an Alexander von Humboldt postdoctoral fellowship at the Max Planck for the Structure and Dynamics of Matter with Prof. James McIver’s group. Starting in January 2026, Matt will be an Assistant Professor in the Physics and Electrical and Computer Engineering departments at Vanderbilt, leading a group that uses using optoelectronics techniques to study quantum materials.
